Traffic is not much of a problem, but targeted traffic is.
To get more targeted traffic, you should be doing some search engine optimization (SEO).
There is on page SEO which has to do with your website and its pages. Then there is off-page SEO which has to do with building quality one-way links to your site.
For on-page SEO, you need to determine what keyword(s) you want to rank high for. This means that when this keyword is used by searchers, your site will be among those to show up. But SEO is about showing up on the first few pages of search results.
Your main keyword should be in your website title and URL. It should also be in your title, description and keyword tags (META data).
Relevant keywords should be used to name your pages or as title for your posts (content). Relevant keywords should be in your content at a density of not more than 5%. Ideally, you should place relevant keywords in the first and last sentence of your content, and in paragraphs in-between.
Use keywords as alt tags for your images and avoid using non-HTML content that search engine spiders can’t read.
For your off-page SEO, I suggest a lot of article marketing. In your article signatures make sure to use your keywords as anchor texts for your links.
You can also do other advertising and promotion methods. SEO takes time to give significant results but, once working, it will give you targeted traffic on autopilot.

SEO is the best way because it is highly targeted and it’s free. However it can take a long time to see results. It is always a good idea to be improving your site’s SEO while you work on other marketing ventures.
Pay Per Click is the fastest way to get traffic, but it can be expensive if you do not know what you are doing.

SEO will help get organic traffic in the search engines and there are two elements in SEOing - Off Page and On Page SEO.
(a) On Page-SEO:
(i) Deals with the crawlability issues you might have on your website:
web structure, checking your robot.txt file (if you have any to correct any interferences), avoiding session IDs in your URLs, code bloating, and avoiding too many parameters in your site’s URL
(ii) Main keywords should be in the sites TITLE, DESCRIPTION and meta tags.

Off-Page SEO: This is where one-way quality backlinks come in. I mean you building quality backlinks to your site. You can do this by using Social Bookmarking, directories and naturally building links related sites to point to your site..

First you’ll want to make sure there is a want for your website. Is there enough search for people to come to your website anyway? If you topic or niche only gets a few searches a month then you could have a long road.
But lets assume there is a want for the information on your website. For me, your biggest bang for your buck is to add a blog to your website and add fresh relevant content, then start commenting on similar blogs ( Dont spam) with your url and get folks coming over to your website. Next, either you can do this or you can hire someone to do it, write 10 unique articles about your niche and submit them to the top article directories…ezinearticles.com first. This should get you started.
